Regardless of the destination, we recommend booking as early as possible, ideally 9–12 months early, especially for peak wildlife seasons or high-demand destinations. This is especially true of private trips and African lodges, which book up to 1-2 years in advance. Since our journeys use intimate lodges with limited rooms to maintain a superior guest experience, they often fill well in advance.
Each itinerary varies, but most journeys include all accommodations, in-country transportation like bush flights or our always private vehicles, expert guides, most meals, activities, and park fees. A detailed list of what’s included in each itinerary is provided in our itinerary PDFs for every departure.

Comprehensive travel insurance, including medical evacuation coverage, is required for all Outer Atlas guests. We will recommend reputable providers familiar with remote and adventure-focused travel upon booking.
We select lodges and camps for their proximity to wildlife, landscapes, or cultures of interest, luxurious comfort, sustainability, and world-class service. Expect beautiful accommodations with limited capacity or private access whenever possible, en-suite bathrooms, pools, local wine and beer, thoughtful amenities, fresh food, and warm hospitality.
Yes. Many lodges offer a limited number of private rooms for an additional single supplement fee. These are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Absolutely. We prioritize partners committed to conservation, local employment, responsible energy use, and low-impact construction.
Most trips are accessible to travelers in good health with moderate mobility. Some itineraries include walking, uneven terrain, or long days outdoors. We will always outline specific requirements. If you have any questions about whether or not a trip is right for you, please contact lily@drewdoggett.com right away.
Some itineraries have minimum age requirements for safety reasons. Please get in touch if you have questions about a specific trip. Contact lily@drewdoggett.com for more information.
Yes. We can create bespoke expeditions for private groups, families, or individuals looking for an exclusive, fully tailored journey.
We prioritize incredible access and intimate experiences with the places we visit, which is why group sizes are intentionally kept small; typically 6–12 guests.
Drew leads each journey along with expert local guides, naturalists, or cultural specialists. Their deep knowledge brings each destination to life.
Whether you are a photographer or not, as your host, Drew will make sure you are in the right place at the right time, whether that’s to witness (or capture) once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters, immerse in cultural experiences, or explore iconic, remote landscapes. For those guests who are photographers at any level of experience, Drew is always happy to offer guidance. He thoughtfully shapes each day’s schedule and time in the field to create exceptional experiences, including wildlife encounters and cultural immersions that naturally provide extraordinary photographic opportunities for those interested.
You’ll have ample opportunities to learn from Drew both in the field and back at the lodge or hotel. While out on game drives or otherwise, Drew is readily available to help refine your settings, improve composition, and optimize angles so you can capture powerful images. He also welcomes guests who want to review the day’s shots, discuss techniques, or dive deeper into the craft, all in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. In the evenings, presentations on photography can also be offered if the group is interested, covering topics such as storytelling, composition, and more. You’re free to seek as much or as little instruction as you’d like; the experience is fully flexible around your goals.
Food is an integral part of the Outer Atlas travel experience. We pay particular attention to the culinary offerings when choosing our accommodations, which means you can expect beautiful, fresh, and often local cuisine, whether we’re in the African bush or on a private expedition vessel exploring the further reaches of our Northern territories.
Absolutely. Please let us know your dietary needs in advance, and we’ll work with our partners to ensure they are accommodated.
We accept major credit cards (with a processing fee), bank transfers, and other secure digital payment options.
All of our trips offer deposit-based reservations with a final payment due closer to departure. If you are interested in splitting up your payments further, please contact us.
