TANZANIA & UGANDA
Encounter the greatest wonders of our world on this extraordinary safari, which takes you to a diverse and thrilling array of habitats and introduces you to the iconic animals that call them home.
First, we travel into Tanzania’s Serengeti, where we’ll split our time between the Central and Northern regions. In the Central Serengeti, we’ll focus on the unique granitic kopjes, or massive and surreal rock outcrops, that form an ideal habitat for lions, leopards, and cheetahs. In the north, we’ll be immersed in the heart of the Great Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra stretch to the horizon, followed closely by the predators that track them.

Lemala Nanyukie Lodge sits in the Eastern Serengeti, offering exceptional comfort, style, and sweeping views across the iconic “endless plains.” Set among grassy savanna, rocky kopjes, and ancient acacia trees, the lodge is surrounded by one of Africa’s most beautiful and wildlife-rich landscapes. Renowned for year-round game viewing, this region is a key route for the Great Migration and home to one of the highest densities of big cats, particularly cheetahs. Guests enjoy thrilling game drives and guided walks led by expert naturalists, creating intimate encounters with the Serengeti’s remarkable wildlife, all in refined, luxurious surroundings.
This hotel will serve as our first stop on the Ugandan leg of our journey. The oasis of Hotel No. 5, nestled amidst the bustling city of Entebbe, will allow us to rest and relax as we get ready for the days to come. All rooms have outdoor sitting areas and access to a pool, shared lounge, and garden. There is a bar and restaurant on site, WiFI, and a fitness center. If you need to move your legs after your flight, a quick walk takes you to the beach.
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge is set deep within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Recently renovated, its ten villas blend seamlessly into the lush surroundings, offering an intimate base for unforgettable gorilla trekking experiences. Beyond trekking, guests can explore forest trails rich in birdlife, visit waterfalls, or unwind with spa treatments and evenings by the campfire. The lodge also maintains strong ties with the local community, including the indigenous Batwa people, with opportunities to visit schools, enterprises, and cultural sites. Every stay offers a rare and meaningful connection to one of the world’s most extraordinary ecosystems.
DAY by DAY ITINERARY
In Arusha, we’ll stay at the stylish and luxurious Gran Meliá hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening before the next day’s journey into the heart of the Serengeti.
After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic flight to the Central Serengeti, excited for the afternoon game drive where we’ll get our first taste of the surreal and unique kopjes and the record number of predators that close in on these singular rock formations. This vital habitat is optimal for big cat viewing, and lions, leopards, cheetahs, as well as elephants, rhinos, wildebeest, hippos, and other wildlife abound. Our game drives start en route to our luxury tented camp in the heart of this big game country. After lunch, we’ll head out for our first official game drive in our private safari vehicle.
We’ll continue our safari in the Central Serengeti, visiting several kopjes and searching for game of all kinds. Many animals, big cats in particular, take advantage of the higher vantage points or their shade, which means they are teeming with animals big and small. If photography is your focus, these otherworldly rock outcroppings provide ample subject matter in a unique setting.
After our morning game drive, we’ll continue into the Northern Serengeti via a short flight. Our lodge is perched atop kopjes overlooking the sweeping valleys beyond. In the afternoon, we’ll set out on our first game drive in search of the Great Migration.
These might be the two most thrilling and action-packed opportunities in East Africa as we chase the thrill of the Great Migration. During this annual event, 1.5 million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of zebras, gazelles, and antelopes move in a loop that covers nearly 1800 miles. Tanzania is the heart of the migration, which is the largest land migration on Earth. This also makes it a prime time for predators; lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and crocodiles all lie in wait, ready to take advantage of the abundance of life crossing the landscape. This is a fantastic, awe-inspiring experience that will leave you speechless, revealing the singular, striking power of Mother Nature on full display.
After breakfast, we will fly to Arusha, where we will transfer to another flight onwards to Entebbe. Our first night in Uganda will be a chance to relax and reset at Hotel No. 5 amidst the bustling city of Entebbe, before we depart the next morning to begin our journey to the home of the mountain gorillas.
After an early breakfast, we’ll fly to Kihihi before a drive to the Bwindi Forest. We’ll get settled into our home base for the next three nights, nestled at the Westernmost edge of the national park and the perfect place for us to embark on our gorilla treks. Enjoy a late lunch, and relax in preparation for the next day’s adventure.
We have now entered the Bwindi Forest, where half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas live. Gorilla treks are planned for the next two days, and we’ve got so much to look forward to. In small groups and with designated park rangers, we’ll trek to meet the gorillas and spend an hour among them. This is a supremely extraordinary experience, one that will leave you in awe of our Earth. Additionally, while mountain gorillas are the centerpiece of our time here, we’ll also have an opportunity to engage in a cultural visit to the Batwa people, the traditional guardians of this forest.
On our final day, after breakfast, we will fly to Entebbe, before catching our international flights home.
